ABOUT COUNSELLING / PSYCHOTHERAPY
What is counselling?
Counselling is a process of personal exploration, examining issues that are causing you difficulty in your life and relationships.
We will work together to help identify the roots of your particular difficulty. By increasing your self-awareness about those issues, along with considering helpful ways in which you may resolve these, this can enable you to move forward and flourish in your life.
How could Counselling help?
Counselling / psychotherapy can be a safe place to explore and unravel issues of concern to you. This can help you to overcome long-standing stumbling blocks and to achieve desired changes in your life and relationships.
Is counselling for me?
There are many who have experienced the benefits of counselling to help them with difficulties they are facing in life, as well as in dealing with experiences from their past, which may be impacting on the present.
What can I expect from our first meeting?
Our first meeting will provide the opportunity for me to learn more about your concerns, and for us to discuss what you hope to achieve in your personal counselling.
How long can I expect to be in therapy?
Time limited counselling is offered when you may wish to attend for only a certain amount of sessions (say 10 to 12) in order to focus on a particular issue.
Longer term psychotherapy is offered if you wish to explore and work through deeper issues in a more timely and explorative way.
Regular reviews will help identify where we are within the process, but how long the therapy inevitably lasts will be for you to decide.
How long does a counselling session last?
Counselling sessions typically last for 50 minutes, although longer sessions can be arranged if preferred.
How regularly will we meet?
Sessions are held on a weekly basis, particularly in the early stages of therapy, but fortnightly sessions may be agreed later on where appropriate.
